Following the death of Coretta Scott King, African American Ministers in Action issued the following statement:
“Coretta Scott King embodied the spirit of the civil rights movement – focused on a vision of justice for all God’s children, and determined to achieve progress despite all odds. She was a woman of peace who never stopped fighting to build the beloved community.
“Mrs. King died on the eve of Black History Month, and at the dawn of a difficult new era for all of us who have seen the federal courts as allies in the quest for justice and opportunity. We know that bigotry and discrimination still limit the lives and opportunities of too many Americans. We know that we have much hard work ahead. We must face the future with the same faith and unflinching dedication that Mrs. King brought to the task.
